ANN
E. CARLSON RECEIVES AWARD FROM CHILDREN’S FRIEND
Ann E. Carlson, Executive Vice President & Managing
Director, Healthcare, Education & Not for Profit Division
at Sovereign Bank, was recently named the winner of the 2008 Miles-Lincoln
Award.
Children’s Friend’s highest honor, the Miles-Lincoln
award is named after two of the founders of the Agency, Mrs. Jonas
M. Miles, and Colonel John Waldo Lincoln. Mrs. Miles had seen
the inadequacy of the system then in place for caring for orphaned
and neglected children, and in 1849, she convinced others to join
her in replacing that harsh system with one of a different sort
– a caring home for these children.
The award is given only to someone who has demonstrated extraordinary
commitment to the welfare of children and families. Ann E. Carlson
exemplifies this commitment.
Since 1999, Ann has worked hard on behalf of the children and
families Children’s Friend serves. She has held major offices
on the Board of Directors since 2000, and has led Children’s
Friend as Board Chair since 2005. Ann also chairs the Agency’s
Development Committee and helped lead its most recent strategic
planning process. In addition, Ann is a Board Member of the American
Red Cross of Central MA; Board Member of the YWCA of Central MA;
and has recently joined the Workplace Campaign Cabinet of United
Way of Central MA. In her role at Sovereign Bank, Ann leads a
team of 25 professionals who are responsible for the commercial
banking needs of healthcare, education, and large not for profit
institutions for Sovereign Bank
On April 5 2008, Ann will be honored at the Miles-Lincoln Dinner
and Silent/Live Auction at the new Hanover Theater for the Performing
Arts.
