Children’s Friend, Inc. is a private, non-profit agency that has been serving children and families in Central Massachusetts since 1849. We have always led the way in responding to the child welfare and mental health needs of the community and beyond. Our mission is to improve the lives of children and those who love them.

To accomplish this mission, our programs are designed to improve family relationships, ensure effective parenting and protection of children, and to help create within each family an environment where children can grow into healthy, educated and responsible members of the community. Our current services reflect the complex needs of contemporary families.

Welcome to the Children’s Friend Website. We are pleased that you are interested in our services. We love sharing information about what we do – and have been doing for more than 150 years – for children and the people who love them.

Our mission is to improve the lives of children and those who love them. We are proud that Children’s Friend has earned the reputation of providing the highest quality professional services in the areas of children’s mental health, adoption, educational and day care services for pregnant and parenting teens, and community education on child and family mental health issues. We’re also proud of our newest program, The Carriage House, a support center for grieving children and families.
