Thanks to all of the volunteers, sponsors, and donators who made the 2014 Big Dipper such a huge success! The Big Dipper will bring in over $46,000, net, to benefit the programs of Children’s Friend. With perfect weather, delicious ice cream, and hundreds of volunteers swarming Elm Park on June 28th, all we could wish for were thousands of ice cream lovers to attend. And attend they did – our ice cream tent was packed, and there were happy people enjoying the entertainment, Moonwalks, games, face painting, food tent, and raffle all day long.
Thanks to our generous ice cream vendors: Coco’s Tropical Ice, Cold Stone Creamery of Millbury, Crystal Caves of Auburn, Dairy Queen Grill & Chill of West Boylston, Eurest Dining Services, Friendly’s, Hood, Janine’s Frostee, and Turkey Hill.
There was a lot going on!
In addition, we thank Yoga in the Park with Ivy Child, NEADS puppies in training , District 33-A Lions’ Sightmobile for free vision and hearing checks. The best summer reads were at the Worcester Library Bookmobile, and lots of kids and families explored the Worcester Fire Truck and fire house safety demonstrations, and got a MedStar ambulance tour.
Roaming Railroad was a huge hit! And we met a princess at the Princess Parties table. WPI’s talented staff brought us a Robotics Demonstration. Bailey Medeiros, Miss Massachusetts Teen USA was in the park, and some of the Miss Teen Central Massachusetts pageant winners stopped by.
We were treated to great entertainment on stage all day long from Chuck & Mud, Spreadin’ Rhythm Around, New England Dance Center, Dale LePage and the Manhattans, Jay Graham, and Joy of Music. What a cool lineup!
